Test Your Score!
Using a base frame measurement will help speed your scoring in the field. The base frame measurement is comprised of: Width, Beam Length and Total Mass.
If you think your buck scores:
- 100-130 Use 90 inches as your base frame. (generally your smaller but respectable bucks)
- 130-170 Use 100 inches as your base frame. (a nice wall hanger and dream buck)
- 170-200 Use 110 inches as your base frame. (the ultimate wall hanging buck...the swamp monster)
Then, add the total length of all the tines for your final field score.
Tip* Ears of an adult deer average 7 inches in length. *Good to know for estimating tine length*
